Tamarack Bog:  This is a
painting I did based on
macrofossil and historical
research of a drained peatland
in Noble Couny, Indiana (1993)
as it would have looked prior to
drainage in 1899

The Fire of Spruce Lake:  This is
an oil painting that I did based
on macrofossil evidence taken
from a core of a peatland in
Bristol, Indiana (1989).

acrylic painting by Sean Boyle, a
student in my Biological
Illustration course.  Sean had
never painted prior to taking the
class

Devonian Sea:  This is an acrylic
painting by one of the students,
Erika Werme, who took my
Biological Illustration course in
2006.
